Gauahar Khan’s Punjabi debut film, Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya is nearing its release. A few day back we were treated to a hilarious trailer of the film and the makers are now out with a song titled Kede pind di. The song is written by Happy Raikoti and sung by Jassi Gill who also plays the lead opposite Gauahar Khan.
I know the song is terribly cliched with a village set up and traditional attires and Bhangra troop as background dancers, but that’s the beauty of it. I love how the song manages to aesthetically create the folk feel- the village set up, the girls playing and the typical Bhangra steps. And goes without saying that Gauahar looks her beautiful self.
What I particular like about the song is the fact that the dhol beats are not marred by electronic beats (an annoying trend of the hour) which further adds to the authenticity of the song. The simple lyrics will have you humming along right away.
I just feel that Jassi was a little over-expressed at some places, but then if you’re that cute looking, you can get by with such minor flaws
'Gadaar -The Traitor' - Punjabi Cinema's first suspense - emotional thriller, a work of slick cinematography & special effects that certainly has never been seen in Punjabi Cinema, is slated for worldwide release on May 29, 2015.

An announcement of the same was made by producers of the film -- Unisys Infosolutions & Grandsons Films in a press release issued from Chandigarh. Said Mr. Sumeet Singh, MD, Unisys Infosolutions, "The film will be registering another first - the launch of seven digital posters before the movie hits theatres. We have already launched one digital poster and before release of the film, we plan to launch six more state-of-the-art, high-tech digital posters of the movie. The posters will be slick works of art & will be made using top-of-the-line post production techniques."

It is noteworthy that Unisys Infosolutions had entered the industry on a turnkey basis about a year ago. The company is doing the entire gamut of operations like casting, production, distribution etc in house. Viewers will see good production values and meaningful Punjabi cinema in all its films.

 Gauahar Khan, who is back from Punjab after completing the shoot of her film 'Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya,' has started dubbing for the film herself.

After a month's stay in Punjab the actress has mastered the language with the help of her co-star Jassi and is all set to dub the entire film.



There's a "sudden race" to make Punjabi films to exploit Sikh sentiments on issues like Operation Bluestar and 1984 riots, with four such films produced by persons based in Canada and Australia to be released in the coming months, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has warned. IB has particularly red-flagged a Punjabi movie, 'Jinda and Sukha', up for likely release on June 5, based on the lives of Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha who killed Gen (retd) AS Vaidya in 1986 after he led Operation Blue Star.

IB says this movie is produced by an Australia-based proprietor of 'Singh Brothers Production" and 'Braveheart Productions' of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. It says some shots of this movie were taken during the observance of the death anniversary of Jinda and Sukha on October 9 last year at Amritsar. In a note sent to the home ministry, IB has said such films portray erstwhile militants as "saviours of the Sikh community" and has pointed out that two films on similar topics were made in 2013 and 2014 too, with the latter movie 'Kaum De Heere', made on the life of Indira Gandhi's assassins, not being cleared by the Censor Board.

IB says another movie expected to be released this month is 'The Blood Street — produced by a Canada-based Jasbir Singh Boparai who has claimed that his aim is to make the younger generation aware of the "past struggle".

This movie depicts how Sikh families were victims of alleged police atrocities during the post 1984 period in Punjab and attempts to justify Sikh youths of that time taking up arms, IB says, pointing out that the movie has received clearance from Censor Board on March 27 after several cuts.

IB has also said Baljit Singh Daduwal, president of radical Sikh organization Panthic Seva Langar, has acted in it. Two more movies --'Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi' and 'Insaaf Di Udeek - Delhi 1984 -- are also in the pipeline which are based on the alleged high-handedness of the police during the militancy days and the 1984 riots in Delhi respectively, IB has warned.

 Actor Jimmy Shergill, who balances his time between Hindi and Punjabi movies, is keen to make more issue-based movies in his Punjabi language.

Jimmy told IANS: "My aim was that Punjabi cinema should come in the big league. I have an emotional connect with Punjabi film as I am from Punjab. It is my duty to give some good films to the Punjabi audience."

"I want to make issue-based films and I want to leave typical song and dance routines behind. I want stories which are more rooted."

 Earlier we shared some photos with you directly from the sets of Udta Punjab where Bollywood’s Bebo was spotted in a pink salwar looking completely like a Punjabi girl. A recent picture taking its round on social media sees Kareena Kapoor Khan and lead actor Diljit Dosanjh on a bike riding somewhere. 
   From the looks of it, it looks like Kareena and Diljit share the relationship of marriage, and are on their way somewhere in a hurry on their two-wheeler. Kareena is spotted in the same pink dress that she earlier posted photos in. The popular Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj is all set to make his movie debut with a Hollywood Film. Apparently, the film is based on the last King of Punjab, Maharaja Duleep Singh, 'The Black Prince'.

The film has been directed by Kavi Raz and produced by Brillstein Entertainment Partners. The bilingual film is a tale about the tragic yet enchanting journey of the last king of Punjab Maharaja Duleep Singh.

What is the motivation behind this quantum leap?
I am always been a keen lover of Heritage and History., Maharajah Duleep Singh is our last king and I feel disheartened that no one till date has take the initiative to narrate his side of the story. Else hs has been projected as mere tragic figure in our Punjab History. Maharaja Duleep Singh was an intelligent, political genius, brave, loveable, charming and emotional man. And getting an opportunity to play the same inspiring character led me into this film.

Why straight away Hollywood? why not Bollywood?
It wasn't about Bollywood or Hollywood or even Pollywood as a matter of fact. I have received numerous offers from Bollywood and Punjabi cinema! But none of them touched my heart. I was never convinced to be a part of any film until now. And when I received the offer for 'The Black Prince' I felt yes! This is it. I said yes to the film without looking at script. 

How did the 'The Black Prince' happen?
As I earlier said I was not willing to do any film which I did not connect with. 'The Dark Prince' happened in the matter of timing and commitment.

Why did you pick an Epic flick to make a debut? like most of the stars might opt for a commercial movie to make a debut?
Commerce does not hold any such importance in my life it stands at secondary position. My whole carrier is not based on commercial aspects. I do what I like and what is good for the society. I did not want to enter Cinema with light and antisocial film.

The Black Prince is the story of the last Sikh Maharaja Duleep Singh, how do you perceive yourself in that character?
I can actually relate to the character, and I did not see much difference, as a matter of fact everyone around felt I really gel into this character. And I also feel the same.

Any last word for the fans?
I have received a lot of love from my fans across the world and I believe that they would continue doing the same. Whereas, I hope to fulfill their wish by giving them a worthwhile film.
